Adam L. Dickmyer

Staff Sgt. Adam L. Dickmyer, age 26, of Winston Salem, N.C., died October 28, 2010, from wounds he suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.

Adam Dickmyer was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.

He was on a dismounted foot patrol when he was killed. He joined the Army in October 2002 and arrived at Fort Campbell in November 2009. 

Adam Dickmyer is survived by his wife, Melinda K. Dickmyer of Arlington, Va.; father, David Dickmyer of Winston Salem, N.C.; and mother, Stephanie L. Dickmyer, of New Port Richey, Fla.

Terry Honeycutt

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Terry Honeycutt, age 19, of Waldorf died October 27, 2010, from injuries sustained while serving in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Terry Honeycutt was a 2009 graduate of North Point High School and his aunt, Bonnie Shipley Honeycutt of Elkridge, said he loved life, music and playing the guitar and he also loved his family and the Marines.

He was with the 2nd Battalion 9th Regiment stationed out of Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C.

Terry Honeycutt was caught in the blast of an improvised explosive device Oct. 20 and suffered extensive tissue and muscle damage to his legs, both of which were amputated later on due to the extent of the injuries. He arrived at a hospital in Germany on Oct. 24 and died Oct. 27.

Friends and relatives have said that Terry Honeycutt usually always had a smile on his face. He was all about energy, enthusiasm and all about passion and that it was his dream to be a Marine.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Terry Honeycutt is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen

David R. Jones Jr.

Private First Class David R. Jones Jr., age 21, of St. Johnsville, died on Oct. 24, 2010, at Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a non-combat incident.  An official with the Defense Department said “the circumstances are currently under investigation.”  

David Jones joined the military in October 2009 as a cannon crew member. He was assigned to the Howitzer Battery 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas, in March. He deployed to Iraq for his first tour of duty to support Operation New Dawn in August. 

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with combat service star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Remembrances placed on the website for Jones included this comment from Travis Heiser, “I will remember David for his humor and positive outlook in life. No matter how bad things seemed to be going David would always find something to say to put everything in perspective. HE IS A TRUE HERO and will be greatly missed by all!!!”

Stuart Langridge - Lost in the Canadian Military System....

As a Canadian, I am offended by the treatment that Stuart Langridge received by the Canadian Military. 

Stuart Langridge killed himself at Canadian Forces Base Edmonton in March 2008, after 5 previous attempts at suicide. He was suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome after serving tours in Bosnia and Afghanistan.

Stuart Langridge's mother said that the Canadian Defence Department didn’t provide her son with the treatment that he needed. Also that officials neglected to initially inform the family that Langridge had left a suicide note. They received the letter two weeks after his death. Also that the military made an error during the funeral and handed the Canadian flag to a former girlfriend instead of family members.

Eight months after the suicide came another disturbing revelation: The military informed the family that it had forgotten to launch an investigation into Langridge’s death.

The family were also told that they could no longer contact the Canadian Ministry of Defence about their son’s death.

Shame on the Canadian Military for sending off a man to war and then when he falls apart, kicking him to the curb, when he needed serious psychiatric counselling. 

After 5 suicide attempts, no one at the Military Base caught on that this young man was disturbed and needed help?

Michael D. Kirspel

Michael D. Kirspel, age 23, was killed fighting on October 27, 2010, in Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. 

He had previously served two tours in Iraq from Oct. 2007 to November 2008. His four-year enlistment with the Army was set to expire in March. He would always find a way to get to a phone as he was deployed, just to make sure everyone (at home) was all right, said his mother, Dawn Roberts - He was a guy you could always count on. He had an amazing moral standard. And he was so protective to his little brother (Samuel), who has cystic fibrosis.  

Michael Kirspel was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Field Artillery (Strike), 1st Brigade Combat team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

Michael Kirspel received several awards and decorations during his tenure, including the Army Commendation Medal with Valor, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the NATO Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Combat Action Badge, the Marksmanship Qualification Badge and the Driver Mechanic Badge.

Phillip C. Tanner

A Sheridan, Wyoming soldier who died October 26, 2010, Tuesday in Kuwait was on his way home for a break when he collapsed. 

Sgt. First Class Phillip C. Tanner, age 43, was processing through Kuwait after leaving Afghanistan when he collapsed and died in Ali Al Salem, Kuwait.

Phillip Tanner, who joined the Army in 1993, was motor transportation operator with the 541st Transportation Company, 106th Transportation Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division. He arrived at Fort Campbell in 2007. He received numerous awards and medals while serving. 

Phillip Tanner is survived by his wife, Hyun Tanner, of Clarksville, Tenn., and daughter, Ashley Tanner, of Hinesville, Ga.

Aracely Gonzalez O'Malley

A Hawaii-based soldier from California has died after a noncombat incident in Afghanistan.


Staff Sgt. Aracely Gonzalez O'Malley of Brawley, Calif. died October 22, 2010, in Germany from injuries sustained in the Oct. 12 incident at Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan.


Aracely O'Malley was assigned to the 307th Integrated Theater Signal Battalion, 516th Signal Brigade, 311th Signal Command at Schofield Barracks.  She was 31 years old.

Dear Heavenly Father: I pray to you today in desperate need. I have been struggling everyday for the last seven years. I feel as though I have been walking thru the desert alone all this time. I have such a need to be reassured that you are in control of my life along with me. All my choices seem to not lead me to my proper road. 

Starting back on May 11, 2003, the day I found my beloved Mother passed away in her bed on this most special day: Mother's Day. It was three months after my Father had died. At the same time my marriage of 17 years was crumbling around me. My whole life fell apart before my eyes. Since that time, my Family has been broken apart beyond my ability to repair. Charles Sadell

A Fort Drum soldier has died three weeks after he was wounded in an insurgent attack in Afghanistan.

Sergeant First Class Charles Sadell, age 34, of Missouri, died on October 24, 2010, at the Naval Medical Center in Bethesda. He was wounded earlier this month when insurgents bombed his unit.

Charles Sadell was part of the 1st Brigade Combat team at Fort Drum.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Charles Sadell is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen

Steven Dupont

20-year old Steven Dupont was killed over the weekend, in Afghanistan.  He was graduate of Comeaux High School and a member of ROTC.

Family, friends and teachers say his life's ambition was to join the army and serve for his country.

Tom Moffitt

Army Specialist Tom Moffitt died this weekend while serving in Afghanistan.  A day later, he's being remembered as a man who was a friend to everyone.  His friends say all they have to do is think about the 21 year-old and they smile.

"He left his mark on everyone. If you didn't know him you would want to be his best friend when you were done meeting him,".

Tom Moffitt was a 2008 graduate of Northwest High School. He is survived by his parents, John and Brenda Moffitt, and an older brother, Jake.

Tom Moffitt enlisted in the Army soon after graduating from high school, a family spokesman said. Before being assigned to Afghanistan last summer, he had served with the U.S. Army in South Korea. He was scheduled to come home on leave next month.

Ronnie J. Pallares

Spc. Ronnie J. Pallares, 19, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., died Oct. 23 in Andar district, Ghazni, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 27th Engineer Battalion, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Ronnie Pallares was known for his friendly attitude and the proficiency with which he did his work. He helped newer soldiers overcome the initial fear of being in a war zone and was loved by his leaders, who thought his promotion to specialist would only be the beginning of a long career and successful life. 

Ronnie Pallares enlisted in 2008 and arrived at Fort Bragg in February 2009, when he was assigned to the 57th Sapper Co. This was his first deployment. 

Ronnie Pallares' awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge and Parachutist Badge.

Mikkel Jørgensen

Danish soldier, Mikkel Jørgensen, age 21, was killed on October 23, 2010, in a firefight in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

He was attached to Charlie Company, from the Royal Guard in Hovelte. He had been in Afghanistan since August. 

Mikkel Jørgensen was shot as he was on a patrol in the area east of Patrol Base Bridzar. Comrades and sanitation soldiers provided first aid on the spot before he was evacuated by helicopter to the field hospital at Camp Bastion.

He leaves behind his father, mother and younger brother.

Kenneth K. McAninch

Staff Sgt. Kenneth K. McAninch, age 28, of Logansport, Indiana, died October 21, 2010, while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

He died at the Yahya Khel district, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire.

Staff Sgt. McAninch was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky . 

He leaves behind a wife and five children.

Gerald R. Jenkins

Spc. Gerald Robert Jenkins, age 19, died October 20, 2010, after an improvised explosive device detonated while his unit was on foot patrol in Maquan, Zhari district, Afghanistan.

Gerald Jenkins was the sort of young man who thought of others before he thought of himself, said his father, Roger D. Jenkins. Gerald Jenkins joined the Army in 2008 at age 17 after earning his high-school equivalency certificate. He wanted to make a better life for himself.  Gerald Jenkins thrived in the Army. He had been in Afghanistan for only five or six weeks, his father said, when he called home and said he had rejoined the Army for six more years. 

Gerald Jenkins was a combat engineer assigned to the 1st Brigade Special Troop Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Ky.  "He was very brave and a patriot," Mr. Jenkins said. "He wanted to make a difference, and it cost him his life." 

Besides his father and his mother, Carla K. McNamara, Gerald Jenkins is survived by a half-brother, Shane Jenkins, 28, and a half-sister, Maranda Wooten, 18.

David Barnsdale

British Soldier, Acting corporal David Barnsdale, from 33 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), died on October 19, 2010, in northern Helmand province, Afghanistan. 

The 24-year-old, who was serving with the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Task Force, was based at Rock Barracks, Woodbridge.  Cpl David Barnsdale, of Tring, Hertfordshire, was killed by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while working on the construction of a new security check point.

In a statement, his family said: “David was a hugely popular guy, a fantastic son, grandson, brother, boyfriend and friend, who will be sorely missed.” His commanding officer said: “Acting Corporal David Barnsdale, Dave to his friends, was a young, bright and incredibly likeable team leader. He embodied the finest traditions of a soldier, constantly displaying bucket loads of grit and determination; he was utterly professional but always with a dash of humility.”

Francisco R. Jackson

Marine Lance Cpl. Francisco R. Jackson called his family in Elizabeth on Monday to deliver a hopeful message from Afghanistan.  "He said, ‘I’ll be home very soon. I want to see you,’" his cousin, Evelyn Cordoba, recalled today. "We were so happy to hear from him."

But on October 19, 2010, Francisco Jackson, age 24, was killed by an improvised explosive device during a combat operation in Helmand province, Afghanistan. 

A field artillery cannoneer, Francisco Jackson enlisted in the Marine Corps a year ago and was on his first combat deployment. He had been assigned to the 1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and already had been awarded a Purple Heart.

Francisco Jackson, who leaves behind a wife and a son, immigrated from the Dominican Republic at a young age.  He was the eldest of four children, with two sisters and one brother.   He decided to enlist last year partly because he had plans to become an engineer, and hoped the Marines would guide him to a better life.

Joshua Cullins

Los Angeles Police Department Officer and U.S. Marine Joshua Cullins died on Oct. 18, 2010, while serving in Afghanistan.  

Joshua Cullins, who before departing for Afghanistan was working in Central Division, was 28. He died when his unit was investigating an IED explosion and a secondary bomb detonated.

He was serving his second tour of duty as an explosive ordnance disposal technician with the First Marine Logistics Group, First Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, 2nd Battalion and 9th Marine Regiment in Marja in Afghanistan’s treacherous Helmand province.

Prior to the October incident, Joshua Cullins suffered a concussion related to an IED explosion in July.

Thibault Miloche

French Army Medic Thibault Miloche, age 39, was killed on October 15, 2010, during a rocket fire attack in Afghanistan. 

He is married with two children. Born in 1971, he was conscripted in 1991, then joined the National School of Specialization of the health service of the Army in 1993, before preparing the nursing diploma at the School of paramedical personnel at Toulon. He participated in numerous missions in Djibouti, Mayotte, Lebanon, Ivory Coast and then in Afghanistan, where he returned last July 6.

Frank Zaehringer III

Marine Corp Sgt. Frank Zaehringer III, age 23, was killed Oct. 11, 2010, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Frank Zaehringer grew up in Reno and graduated from Wooster High School. He leaves behind his wife, Cassie; two stepdaughters; and his parents.

The son of Sharon and Frank Zaehringer Jr., he graduated from Wooster High School in 2005. He served in Iraq in 2009 and was on his first tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Ian M. Tawney

Sgt. Ian M. Tawney, age 25, of Dallas was killed October 16, 2010, in combat in Helmand province, Afghanistan.


He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1 Marine Expeditionary Force, from Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Jorge Villareal

Jorge Villareal, Jr., was a 22-year-old Marine corporal based out of Camp Pendleton, Calif., was killed during a combat mission in Afghanistan on October 17, 2010.

Jorge Villareal, Sr., his father, said his son left for his second tour of duty and he shared a premonition with him.  "This time when he left in May...he said he's worried it is going to be too difficult and that he's probably not going to come back," Mr. Villareal said.  His son joined the Marines after attending John F. Kennedy High School.

Dylan Reid

Pfc. Dylan Reid, age 24, died on October 16, 2010, as a result of a noncombat incident.

He had been in Iraq since last March 13 after joining the Army on Sept. 24, 2008. This was his first deployment.

Dylan Reid was a track vehicle repairer. He was in the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, assigned to Fort Collins, Colo.

Dylan Reid was awarded an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, an Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and an Army Service Ribbon.

Kenneth Wallin

Swedish soldier, Kenneth Wallin, age 22, has been killed in Afghanistan, in October, 2010. 

He was killed by a roadside bomb 40 km west of Mazar-i-Sharif. 

He went to Afghanistan in May, 2010. He lived in the Stockholm area and he would have returned to Sweden in December but became the fifth Swedish soldier killed in combat in Afghanistan.

James D. Boelk

Lance Cpl. James D. Boelk, age 24, of Oceanside, Calif., died Oct. 15, 2010, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Carlos Benitez and Rafael Martinez

Carlos Benitez

Carlos Benitez and Rafael Martinez were killed in Afghanistan in October, 2010, when they were attacked by enemy forces in southeast Afghanistan. An improvised explosive device was used in the attack on their convoy.

Rafael Martinez

Sgt. Carlos Benitez, age 24, had served in the Army for nearly six years, including two year-long tours in Iraq before deploying to Afghanistan in July. He had earned the Iraq Campaign Medal with four stars and other commendations.

Spc. Rafael Martinez Jr., age 36, had joined the Army in September 2007 and served in Iraq from March 2008 to March 2009. He had numerous campaign and service awards, and was a Purple Heart recipient.

They were assigned to the 7th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, stationed at Fort Carson.

Eric Colby Newman

A Fort Bragg soldier supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan has been killed in combat.  Sgt. Eric Colby Newman, age 30, of Waynesboro, Mississippi died October 14, 2010, after being injured by an improvised explosive device near Din Mohammed Kalay in southeastern Afghanistan. Eric Newman was assigned to the Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment, 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade. That unit typically provides intelligence analysis and collection support to the 18th Airborne Corps, based at Fort Bragg. 

"Sergeant Newman was the consummate professional in the execution of his duties, always striving to be a better noncommissioned officer and Soldier," said Lt. Col. James Gaylord. "He was selected to serve in our Squadron Tactical Command Post because of his professionalism." Eric Newman enlisted in the Army in 2006. He arrived at the 525th BfSB in February 2007.

Tramaine Billingsley

Private First Class Tramaine Billingsley, age 20, was killed in Afghanistan on October 14, 2010.

He was a Calvary Scout with the U.S Army, which was something the 20-year-old dreamed of doing his entire life. That job, patrolling the streets of Afghanistan, cost him his life, when the convoy he was riding in hit an IED.

Tramaine also loved music. He was a popular drum major with the marching band at Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk. He graduated two years ago, before joining the Army and leaving for Afghanistan in July.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Tramaine Billingsley is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen

Jordan Byrd

Pfc. Jordan Byrd, age 19, stationed in Fort Campbell, Ky., was killed October 13, 2010, while working near the Pakistan border. His family doesn't have all the details on how he died, but they were told he was shot while helping one of his fellow soldiers, who had also been shot during combat.

Jordan Byrd graduated from Dugway High School in 2009 and wanted to become a doctor. His family says he loved helping people and figured joining the military would be a way for him to get through medical school.

Jordan Byrd was married less than a year ago. His son, Ayden, was born just five weeks ago, right before he was deployed to Afghanistan. 

Savanna Byrd, his wife, is thankful she has some pictures of Ayden and Jordan together. She said the smile on her husband's face is something she'll never forget.

Irvin M. Ceniceros

A fifth Marine from the Camp Pendleton-based 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment has been killed during combat in Afghanistan. 

Lance Cpl. Irvin M. Ceniceros, age 21, of Clarksville, Ark., was killed by small-arms fire while on foot patrol Thursday in southern Helmand province, on the Pakistani border.  Irvin Ceniceros, a machine-gunner, enlisted in September 2007. He had deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Western Pacific in 2009.

Phillip D. Vinnedge

Lance Cpl. Phillip D. Vinnedge, age 19, of St. Charles, Mo., was killed in October, 2010, by an explosion while conducting operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force from Camp Pendleton. He was an antitank assaultman and enlisted in September 2009.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Phillip Vinnedge is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen

Raymon Johnson

A Georgia family is mourning a Marine killed by an improvised bomb in Afghanistan.  Lance Cpl. Raymon Johnson of Columbus was killed October 13, 2010, in Helmand province. The 22-year-old was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment of the 2nd Marine Division.

His father, Greg Johnson, told the Columbus Ledger-Enquirier that his son was serving as the point man of a security patrol when he stepped on an improvised explosive device. He had been a Marine for three years.

Alec E. Catherwood

A Marine from northern Illinois has been killed in combat in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, during combat operations. 

19-year-old Lance Cpl. Alec E. Catherwood of Byron died October 14, 2010.  He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Alec Catherwood was engaged to be married in July.  He graduated from Byron High School in 2009 and enlisted in the Marine Corps last June. This was his first deployment.

Joe Rodewald

Lance Cpl. Marine Joe Rodewald, who was newly arrived in Afghanistan when he was killed by a roadside bomb.

The 21-year-old Albany man, who planned to make the Marine Corps a career, was killed October 13, 2010, near Sangin in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Joseph C. Lopez

Lance Cpl. Joseph C. Lopez, age 26, of Rosamond, in the Antelope Valley, was killed October 14, 2010, in Helmand province, Afghanistan.  


Joseph Lopez, a rifleman, enlisted in March 2009. He was on his first overseas deployment. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Victor A. Dew

Pfc. Victor A. Dew, age 20, was killed by an explosion while conducting operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force from Camp Pendleton. Victor Dew, an anti-tank assault specialist, enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2009. This was his first combat deployment.

His personal service awards include the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Medal.

Justin J. Cain

Cpl. Justin J. Cain, age 22, died October 13, 2010, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.  Justin Cain, a machine gunner, was killed by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on June 19, 2007, and has received numerous awards for service, including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon and National Defense Service Medal, according to the release.

Matthew Powell

A 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division soldier has been killed in an improvised explosive device blast in Ghunday Ghar, Afghanistan.

Spc. Matthew C. Powell, age 20, of Slidell, La., died from his wounds Oct. 12, 2010, at Kandahar Airfield. Matthew Powell was a motor transport operator assigned to Company A., 526th Brigade Support Battalion. He joined the Army in July 2008 and arrived at Fort Campbell in November 2008. His awards and decorations include: National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; and Army Service Ribbon.

Matthew Powell is survived by his father, Lloyd P. Powell of Baton Rouge, La.; and mother, Janice C. Powell of Slidell, La.

Adam Szada-Borzyszkowski

Polish soldier Pfc. Adam Szada-Borzyszkowski, age 28, was killed in a mortar attack on October 14, 2010, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan. 

Adam was the First Air Cavalry Battalion. It was his second foreign mission - in 2007, he served in Iraq. He left a wife and child. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Adam Szada-Borzyszkowski is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen

Peter Rayner

British Sgt Peter Rayner, age 34, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, of 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, was killed on 8 October, 2010, in Afghanistan.

He is survived by his widow, Wendy and his 6 year old son, Derek, his parents and numerous family members.  Sgt Rayner, a keen mountain biker, had previously served in Bosnia and Iraq and died during a second tour of Afghanistan.  He was a fantastic loving husband and father, son, son-in-law, brother and brother-in-law, who loved his job and doing something which he believed in, said his wife. As a soldier he loved his job and was totally committed to the Army, as well as his family and friends. As a son and brother, he was a fun loving and caring person of whom we are all very proud. We loved him so dearly and will miss him with all our hearts.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Peter Rayner is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen

Jason Callistan

British Soldier, Sgt Jason Callistan, age 30, Lowestoft, was returning home on his Yamaha motorbike from duties with 33 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) of the Royal Engineers when he was involved in a collision on the A143 at Hepworth, near Diss, last Wednesday. (October, 2010).

A tribute from his family said: “J Callistan, tragically taken on Wednesday October 6. Devoted to his country, family and friends, serving in the Royal Engineers for 12 years. A true character who will shine in our hearts forever.”  Sgt Callistan joined 33 Engineer Regiment (EOD) in January 2009 as a corporal and qualified as Royal Engineer Seach Team Commander before serving a six month tour in Afghanistan. On his return to the UK, he was promoted and qualified as a bomb disposal officer and it was in that role that he was about to start preparations for another tour of duty in Afghanistan.

He is described as a "personable, professional and inspirational individual". He is survived by his wife Emma and numerous other relatives.

David Weigle

Staff Sergeant David Weigle, age 29, of West Philadelphia, was killed Sunday when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device.

David Weigle was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team. He leaves behind a wife and son.

He was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division with Fort Campbell.
