Glenn Doss Jr. - Police Officer Fatality - Detroit, Michigan

Police Officer Glenn Doss, Jr., age 25, died in the line of duty on January 28, 2018, at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan. 

Officer Doss was a member of the Detroit Police Department. He had 2 years of service. 

On January 24, 2018, after 10:00 p.m., Glenn and his partner had responded to a call concerning domestic violence at a Detroit residence. 

A male subject had exited the home and was carrying a firearm. As the two officers pulled up to the scene the male subject opened fire on their patrol car. Glenn was shot in the head. 

Glenn's partner rushed him to a local hospital. Glenn underwent surgery. 

Tragically, on January 28, 2018, Glenn succumbed to his injuries.

Glenn's father is also a member of the Detroit Police Department.

Kevin Ramsey - Firefighter Fatality - Detroit, Michigan

Firefighter Kevin Ramsey, age 50, died in the line of duty on July 29, 2017, at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Firefighter Ramsey was a member of the Detroit Fire Department. He was stationed with Tactical Mobile Squad 3. He had 20 years of service. 

During the morning and during the afternoon of July 29, 2017, Kevin and his comrades fought two structural fires. After returning to the firehouse, Kevin stated that he felt nauseated and had chest pains. Advanced medical responders administered to Kevin and he was then rushed to a local hospital. 

Tragically, later that day, Kevin passed away due to a heart attack caused by stress and over-exertion. 

Kevin had been an EMS medic before becoming a firefighter.

Myron Jarrett - Police Officer Fatality - Detroit, Michigan

Police Officer Myron Jarrett, age 40, died in the line of duty on October 28, 2016, at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Officer Jarrett was a member of the Detroit Police Department. He was assigned to the 12th Precinct. He had 8 years of service.

After 10:00 p.m., Myron was assisting other officers during a traffic stop near a city intersection on the west side of Detroit.

He was getting back into his patrol car and was preparing to leave the scene when he was struck by a speeding van. The van also struck several other vehicles in the vicinity. The male driver and his female passenger fled the scene on foot.

The driver, Steven Patrick Guzina, age 54, was arrested several hours later.

Kenneth Steil - Police Officer Fatality - Detroit, Michigan

Sergeant Kenneth Steil, age 46, died in the line of duty on September 17, 2016, at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Sergeant Steil was a member of the Detroit Police Department. He had been a member of the department’s Underwater Recovery Team before moving to the 9th Precinct. He had 20 years of service. 

On September 12, 2016, after 11:00 p.m., Ken was one of the officers in pursuit of a man wanted for carjacking and for wounding his own father and another man. 

The male suspect fled on foot. 

Ken pursued the suspect. The fleeing man fired a sawed-off shotgun at the officer, striking Ken in the shoulder. 

Other officers on the scene arrested the suspect, Marquise Cromer, age 21. It has been reported, but not confirmed, that this man is schizophrenic. He is facing numerous charges.

Erica Garner - a victim of thieves in Detroit, Michigan

Erica Garner, age 42, died on January 27, 2016, at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Erica had driven to a suburban recreational center to pick up her 11 year old son who was playing basketball. She was inside her car in the center's parking lot. 

Erica was approached by two male teens who attempted to force her from her vehicle in order to steal it. Erica tried to drive away but she was shot in the head. 

Others in the vicinity tried to help and called 911. Erica was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, she succumbed to her injuries. 

The teens who shot Erica fled the scene on foot but were apprehended not long after the murder. 

Ralph Marshall, age 17, and Rayvon Smith, age 18, have been arrested in connection with Erica's murder.

Ralph Marshall and Rayvon Smith are innocent unless proven guilty.

Dennis Rodeman - Firefighter deliberately struck by a vehicle in Lansing, Michigan

Firefighter Dennis Rodeman, age 35, died on September 9, 2015, at a hospital in Lansing, Michigan.

Firefighter Rodeman was a member of the Lansing Fire Department. He had 7 years of service. 

During the afternoon, Dennis was collecting money during an on-street fundraising program for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the International Association of Fire Fighters when he was deliberately struck by the driver of a pickup truck. 

Dennis was rushed to a nearby hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries.

It is reported that Dennis and the pickup truck driver had exchanged words after which the pickup truck driver circled back and ran into Dennis. 

The pickup truck driver, Grant Taylor, age 22, of Lansing, fled the scene but was apprehended by the police. He may face charges of murder and hit and run. 

Dennis was a U.S. Marine veteran who had served a tour of duty in Iraq. He had married his wife, Katherine, only two months ago. She is pregnant with their child. 

A fundraising site has been set up to help Dennis' family with expenses.

Mouhammed Hassan - a Store Clerk murdered in Lincoln Park, Michigan

Mouhammed Hassan, age 29, of Dearborn, Michigan, died on March 31, 2015, at a pawn shop in Lincoln Park, Michigan.

Mouhammed was the manager of the pawn shop. The family had never had trouble there before. 

When Mouhammed didn't show up for dinner, his father and brother went to check on him. Tragically, they found him deceased at the shop.

The family feels that Mouhammed was closing up shop when a man or men entered and attempted to rob the place. Mouhammed was shot in the head.  It seems that only a cell phone was stolen.

Customers and friends describe Mouhammed as funny, caring and a good guy.  He was helpful and kind to others. He was giving and was charitable.

Scott Simerson - a Good Samaritan died in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Scott Simerson, age 24, died on August 10, 2014, at a hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

On May 23, 2014, Scott was at an elementary school with three kids he was babysitting. The kids were playing on the playground equipment.

Four teens were also at the playground. Stories are conflicted and it has been stated that the teens were bothering the kids in Scott's care and he tried to intervene. Other stories state that two teens started fighting with two other teens and Scott tried to intervene.

What is known is that Scott was walking away from the teens when they attacked him. He didn't put up a fight.

Scott was savagely beaten - kicked and stomped. He suffered numerous injuries to his head. Charges of murder may be filed against some of the teens involved. Their names are not available as yet, because they are underage.

Scott did regain consciousness and used signs to communicate with his family. He was on a ventilator and had trouble speaking. He was in the hospital for months. His

family felt that he would survive.

The exact cause of Scott's death in the hospital has not been released as of this posting.

Friends stated that Scott was recently engaged to be married and had an infant daughter whom he adored.

Nicole Gates - a Store Clerk murdered in Battle Creek, Michigan

Nicole Gates, age 27, of Hastings, Michigan, died on July 23, 2014, in Battle Creek, Michigan. 

Nicole was an employee of a gas station/convenience store just west of Battle Creek's downtown. She was working the overnight shift. She had just started the job on July 3rd. 

She told friends that she had been taunted by a man and his three friends outside of the gas station on July 22, the night before.  Nicole knew her assailant but it is unknown at this time if they were in a romantic relationship.

In the early morning hours of July 23, Nicole was found stabbed to death in a back room.  Beer, cigarettes and lottery tickets had been stolen from the store and her car was stolen. 

Shawn Pike, age 30, has been arrested in connection with this tragedy. He is facing charges of murder and armed robbery.  A 21 year old man was also arrested and may be charged with accessory to murder. 

Shawn Pike has a prior criminal record including sexual assault. He is only 30 years old and yet he is racking up a rap sheet like Judas.

Duraid Lossia - Store Owner murdered in Farmington Hills, Michigan

Duraid Lossia, age 59, died on December 28, 2013, at his store in Farmington Hills, Michigan. 

Duraid was known as "David" to many of his friends. Others called him "Tom". 

He was the owner and operator of Tom's Party Store, which is a small liquor/convenience store. 

At about noon, Duraid was shot in the head during a robbery attempt.

Cassale Leroy Nettles, age 43, of Detroit, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with this case. 

Duraid Lossia was well known in his community, well-liked and well-respected. 

Friends describe him as a sweet, loving man, who would often extend credit to customers who were short of money. 

Others describe him as a business man, a pillar of the community and a family man.

Chelsea Ann Small - Store Clerk murdered in Taylor, Michigan

Chelsea Ann Small, age 30, of Gibraltar, Michigan, died on November 12, 2013, at an Advance America Check Store, in Taylor, Michigan.

She was shot several times, and killed by an assailant just after noon of that day. She died on the job site.

It is unknown if Chelsea knew her assailant. It is believed that she was killed during a robbery attempt. She had managed to press the "hold-up" alarm to notify Police of trouble.

The assailant fled the scene with a small amount of cash. The suspect is described as a white male around 35 to 50 years old. He is stocky and has dark bushy full hair. He was last seen wearing a blue waist-length jacket, a white undershirt, black pants and light colored shoes. His baseball cap is dark with an emblem on the front and left side.

Chelsea graduated from Carlson High School in 2002.

Friends said that she was a sweet woman, who always said hi to people in the neighborhood of her job.

Chelsea is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her daughter, Josalynn (age 8) and her son, Logan (age 5).

Paul DeWolf - murder victim in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Paul DeWolf, age 25, died on July 24, 2013, at his room in the Phi Rho Sigma medical fraternity, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Paul died of a single gunshot to the neck.

The Police have deemed this to be a homicide. There were no signs of a struggle and nothing was stolen. The Police have no motive for this crime and no suspect at this time.

Second Lt. Paul DeWolf was a fourth-year medical student at the University of Michigan on an Air Force scholarship. He planned to graduate next Spring.

Paul was born in Kalamazoo and grew up in Schoolcraft, Michigan.

He was captain of the Cross Country Team at Schoolcraft high school, graduating as class Valedictorian in 2006. He received his Bachelors Degree in Bio-Medical Sciences from Grand Valley State University in 2010 and then joined the United States Air Force, where he was in the top ten percent in Certified Officer Training and received the Top Athlete Award.

Paul was a talented musician and especially enjoyed the piano and French horn. He was a certified scuba diver, traveled the world on several mission trips, and had competed in marathons.

Paul is described as a man of faith who had no enemies.
