Myron Jarrett - Police Officer Fatality - Detroit, Michigan

Police Officer Myron Jarrett, age 40, died in the line of duty on October 28, 2016, at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Officer Jarrett was a member of the Detroit Police Department. He was assigned to the 12th Precinct. He had 8 years of service.

After 10:00 p.m., Myron was assisting other officers during a traffic stop near a city intersection on the west side of Detroit.

He was getting back into his patrol car and was preparing to leave the scene when he was struck by a speeding van. The van also struck several other vehicles in the vicinity. The male driver and his female passenger fled the scene on foot.

The driver, Steven Patrick Guzina, age 54, was arrested several hours later.

The Detroit Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. Myron was a professional who was an asset to the Department. He will be forever remembered.

Myron's' loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Myron is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and four children.

Thank you for your service to the community, Myron.

God save us from those who strike us down on the road and then run away like wolves. Amen.
