Officer Holloway was a member of the New Orleans Police Department. He had 22 years of service. He was assigned to the 5th District.

Officer Daryle Holloway (L); Travis Boys (R)
At approximately 8:00 a.m., Daryle was transporting a prisoner, Travis Boys, age 33, to the Central Lockup in the city.

Travis Boys had been arrested for aggravated assault earlier during the previous shift. He had been handcuffed behind his back but managed to maneuver his arms to the front of his body. He then crawled through the vehicle's partition and began struggling with Officer Holloway as the officer was driving. Officer Holloway was shot during the ensuing struggle, causing his vehicle to crash into a utility pole near a city intersection.

Travis Boys was able to flee on foot after the vehicle crashed and remains at large as of this posting.

Travis is quite the Houdini.  He can switch his handcuffed arms from the back to the front, crawl through a small partition hole in a police vehicle, grab a gun, shoot an officer and run off presumably while handcuffed.  This dude should have directed his numerous abilities to the circus instead of to the streets of New Orleans.

We wonder if he will be able to Houdini himself out of the death penalty in Louisiana for killing a police officer?

Officer Holloway was rushed to a local hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries.

Citizens with information that can help solve this crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP. A reward is offered.

Mia DeRouen - a 4 year old victim of a Dog Attack in Houma, Louisiana

Mia DeRouen
Mia Derouen, age 4, died on March 25, 2014, at a hospital in Houma, Louisiana.

Mia was attacked by a pit bull dog as she watched TV in the family's apartment.

This dog was named Niko and weighed 130 pounds. The dog and another pit bull which did not participate in the attack belong to the boyfriend of Mia's mother.

The mother, Megan Touchet, was able to pull the girl away from the dog and barricaded herself and the child in a bedroom. She had to hand the child out of the window to waiting paramedics.

Mia suffered severe facial, head and body injuries. She was bitten to death.

The Police had to fire over 10 shots into the dog to kill it. The scene of the attack was
I'm a pit bull.  Can I
be part of your family?
described as bloody and horrific. The cops wanted to throw up when they saw the carnage.

The mother was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

The second pit bull dog in the apartment was taken to a local animal shelter.

Mia would have turned 5 on April 3rd.

On the advice of their attorneys, the mother and the boyfriend, Kerry Dominique, have stopped talking to the media and the police about the incident. The biological father of Mia, Chris DeRouen, has pleaded with people to stop talking about pit bulls.

No......We have to talk about pit bulls.

Pit bulls are vicious and unpredictable dogs. They were bred 200 years ago for bull baiting, bear baiting and dog fighting. They were never intended to be family pets. They have proven that they can kill people both young and old. Many towns and cities do not allow pit bulls and related breeds within their jurisdictions.

Where are the legislators in Louisiana and in Houma? Wake up.

Why did this apartment building's management allow two pit bulls to be kept on the premises? Is this building a residence for people or is it a kennel for dogs?

Death by dog is not acceptable in a civilized country.

Mia is survived by many loving well-wishers, who will forever mourn her.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next.

We know that Mia is playing in the fields of Heaven.
