Natasha Hunter |
Officer Hunter was a member of the New Orleans Police Department. She had over 11 years of service.
On June 5, 2016, at about 2:30 a.m., Officer Hunter was in her patrol car and was blocking traffic for another officer who was conducting an accident investigation on a New Orleans roadway. A vehicle drove through traffic cones and flares and struck her vehicle.
Natasha was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, two days later, she succumbed to her injuries.
Chau Thai Nguyen, age 33, was arrested and is suspected to have been impaired by alcohol at the time of the collision. He may be charged with vehicular homicide.
Chau Thai Nguyen is innocent unless proven guilty.
Michael, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Natasha and for those who have lost her. |
However, we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are drunk, wasted or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi or a bus; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.
Regret can last a lifetime.
Natasha joined the Department in December of 2004. She worked in the 5th and 1st Districts. Two of Natasha's sisters also work in law enforcement.
