Just before 8:30 in the morning, Khalil was driving with friends on a city street when another vehicle sped through the intersection, striking Khalil's car.
Tragically, Khalil died at the scene of the collision.
Luis Lopez, age 19, has been arrested in connection with this tragic accident. He faces charges of DUI causing death and DUI with substantial bodily harm.
Luis Lopez is innocent unless proven guilty.
However we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are wasted, drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi or a bus; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.
Regret can last a lifetime.
Pray that Khalil is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Khalil had recently quit his job as an assistant cafe manager to pursue his passion which was film making.
Friends describe him as a talented and hardworking man who had a future in the film
industry. He was dependable. He had a sense of humor. He was a good guy who will be forever missed.
Khalil's friends and loved ones are devastated over his senseless and tragic death. He was his mother's only child. He was her world. They went on trips together, to concerts together, and had fun together. Khalil did his best. He touched the lives of many others. He will be forever mourned.
Khalil is survived by many loving friends and family members including his mother, Beth.
