The Lisa Gibson Family in Winnipeg, Canada - a real tragedy

Lisa Gibson, age 32, died on July 24, 2013. Her body was pulled from the Assiniboine River in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Earlier in the day the bodies of her two children, Anna (age 2) and Nicholas (age 3 months) were found in a bathtub. These children had been drowned.

The father and husband, Brian, was at work.

Lisa Gibson was the last person known to be in charge of these kids. It is presumed that she drowned her children and then threw herself in the nearby river.

This situation is painful at every level. It is tragic in the extreme.

Lisa, who had given birth only 3 months before, was suffering from postpartum psychosis which is not postpartum depression. It is much more severe. It is a chemical imbalance in the body due to birth hormones. If you have a previous history of bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, the chance of psychotic post partum depression occurring is greatly increased.

It has not been disclosed if Lisa had a prehistory of mental illness.

Every young mother is exhausted and feels that she is failing.  This is normal.  But if
you feel delusional, deeply depressed and feel that you are "losing it",  please talk about this issue to family members, a pastor or priest, a friend or anyone...and then go to the Doctor. Ask a medical professional for help. Prescription drugs may get you through this difficult time.
Saint Jude, pray for Anna
and Nicholas, Brian and Lisa.
Pray for peace for this family.

The infants, Anna and Nicholas, are survived by many loving friends and relatives including their father, Brian.

Pray that Anna and Nicholas are in heaven. Pray that they are with God. Amen.

Pray for Brian who has lost his family. Amen.

Pray for Lisa Gibson. Pray that she finds peace. Amen.

Pray for all who are tormented. Amen.

Darren Bezborotko - a Good Samaritan in Regina, Canada

Darren Bezborotko, of Regina, Saskatchewan, is a Good Samaritan.

Two years ago he offered aid to a woman and her child and that woman has been wondering who he was ever since.

They got a chance to meet on July 19, 2013, in Regina. She thanked him for his help and gave him a bouquet of flowers.

Darren Bezborotko, Owen, and Juanita Ledoux
In 2011, Juanita Ledoux was walking to the hospital with her son, Owen, age 6 at the time. The boy had been feeling ill for a week and was suffering from headaches. He was vomiting all the time. Juanita had scheduled medical appointments for tests but he got worse suddenly. She had no transportation at her disposal so she decided to walk him to the Emergency Department of a local city hospital.

As they struggled on the sidewalk, Owen was basically on his hands and knees and Juanita was trying to get him up but she couldn't carry him. Owen kept falling to his knees and then picking himself up.

Darren Bezborotko was driving by and saw this boy and his mother faltering. He stopped, offered help, and drove them to the hospital.

He stepped up and helped strangers, selflessly. That is what being a Good Samaritan
The Good Samaritan
reaches out to strangers,

is all about.

Sadly, the boy, Owen, was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor.

Darren has a wife, Trish, and two teenaged children. Trish stated that it is so typical of Darren to do something like this. He is just a man who helps others.

Pray for Owen and for his mother, Juanita. Pray for mercy for them. Amen.

God bless Darren Bezborotko and his family. He isn't a saint, but his act of kindness is a saintly act - the giving of yourself to others.

God knows we need more men like Darren in this world.
