David Dunlap and wife - murdered in Colorado Springs

Staff Sgt. David Dunlap, age 37, and his wife, Whitney Dunlap (Butler), age 35, died on January 14, 2013, at their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

They returned home around noon and encountered a burglar, who fatally shot both of them and escaped.

David was a staff sergeant in the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Carson outside Colorado Springs. His specialty was repairing armament, electrical and avionic systems on Apache helicopters.

He joined the Army in 2003 and arrived at Fort Carson in November of 2012. He deployed to Iraq in 2007-2008. He had won several awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal.

Angels of God, pray for David and Whitney
David is originally from California. Whitney is originally from Virginia. They had lived in Colorado for only about two months. The couple were recently married and were expecting their first child.

Friends are heartbroken. They describe David as a go-getter, a hard worker and a great guy.

Others describe him as a great guy and a great soldier, who was always willing to help and to teach.

David and Whitney are survived by many loving friends and relatives.

God save us from the thieves. They are killing us, Father.

God save us from the Lost Ones who stalk the Earth stealing away life. Amen.

Pray that David and Whitney are in heaven. Pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
