James Skalberg Jr.

Sgt. James L. Skalberg Jr., age 25, of Cullman, Alabama, died on June 27, 2012, in Maidan Shahr, Wardak Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas. 

He was known as "Jamie" to his family and friends. 

Jamie graduated from Nishna Valley High School in 2005 and attended Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska. He joined the Army in 2007.

High school officials stated that Jamie loved to have fun and was a leader on his school football and basketball teams. He is also described as caring.

Family members describe him as a loving, good-hearted man.

Jamie is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents; his sister; his wife, Jessica; and his infant son, Carter. 

Let us pray that James Skalberg Jr. is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

May James rest in eternal peace. Bless his loved ones. His sacrifice for this country will never be forgotten. Someone should create a memorial page for him on Evertalk within Facebook.
