Norman Lewis |
Deputy Lewis was a member of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. He was part of the Motors/DUI Unit. He had 11 years of service.
Deputy Lewis was known as Norm to his family and friends.
Norman was participating in the search for Markeith Loyd who is wanted for for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend and for the murder of Master Sergeant Debra Clayton of the Orlando Police Department.
Before 10:00 a.m., Norman was riding his motorcycle in Pine Hills, Florida. He was at an intersection when he collided with a van that had turned in front of him.
Norman was rushed to a hospital in Orlando where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
Norman had graduated from Port Charlotte High School. He then played football for the University of Central Florida. He graduated from the University in 2004 with a degree in criminal justice. Friends describe him as a gentle giant of a man with a kind spirit. He worked hard at whatever he was doing.
Norman also talked to inner-city youth about building bridges between law
enforcement and the community. He was trying to make a difference.
The members of the Orange County Sheriff's Office are in mourning over the death of their brother. Norm was one of the good guys. He will be forever remembered.
Norman's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Norman is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.
