Debra Clayton - Police Officer Fatality - Orlando, Florida

Master Sergeant Debra Clayton died in the line of duty on January 9, 2017, in Orlando, Florida.

Master Sergeant Clayton was a member of the Orlando Police Department. She had 17 years of service.

Markeith Loyd, in his early 40's, was wanted for allegedly murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend and for shooting another male at her residence. Markeith Loyd has a lengthy criminal history and has served time in prison.

Debra came across Markeith Loyd in or near a parking lot at a Walmart in the city.  He shot Debra, carjacked a vehicle and fled the scene.

The members of the Orlando Police Department are in mourning over the death of their sister. She is a hero who died in the service of her community. She will be forever remembered.

Debra's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She did her best. She will be forever mourned.

Debra is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including her husband and her two children.
