After 2:30 a.m., Ryan and a friend were skateboarding on a quiet residential street in South Vancouver. He lived in the area and it is believed he was skateboarding to his home.
A car was speeding down the street and struck Ryan. The driver sped off and did not stop. Neighbors report that cars often speed through this area's residential streets.
Ryan's friend performed CPR on Ryan and a resident of the area phoned 911. Other neighbors came out to the street to offer assistance and first aid.
Ryan was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
The hit and run vehicle was an older model Mitsubishi car which sustained damage to the driver's side front end.

Ryan was originally from Windsor, Ontario. He was employed in the Vancouver area and was an avid member of Vancouver's skateboarding community and the heavy metal and punk

Friends describe Ryan as positive, kind, helpful to others and a friend to many. He had a sense of humor and a big heart.
Ryan's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.
Ryan is survived by many loving friends and family members who will forever miss him.
Pray for justice for Ryan.
Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.
God save us from the drivers who strike us down on the road and then run away like wolves. Amen.
