Jose Barraza - United States Border Patrol - Texas

Border Patrol Agent Jose Barraza, age 29, of El Paso, Texas, died in the line of duty on April 18, 2016, on a highway between Fort Hancock and Esperanza, Texas.

Agent Barraza was a member of the United States Border Patrol. He had almost 8 years of service. He was assigned to the Sierra Blanca Station. Jose was a canine handler.

He was known as Joey to his family and friends. 

At about 7:30 a.m., Jose was at the end of his shift and was headed towards his home in El Paso. 

For an unknown reason, Jose's truck collided with the rear of a semi-trailer. Tragically, Jose died at the scene of the accident. 

The circumstances of the accident are under investigation.

A funding site has been set up to help the family with expenses.

Friends describe Jose as a man who was passionate about his family and his job. 

The U.S. Border Patrol is in mourning over the death of their brother. Jose was a professional who did everything with a smile. He will be forever remembered.

Jose is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, his wife, Donna, and two young sons.
