Radovan Karadzic - the Serbian War Criminal sentenced to 40 years

On March 24, 2016, Radovan Karadzic, age 70, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Radovan Karadzic

He was convicted of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

In his younger years, he was a psychiatrist living in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

In the early 1990's Yugoslavia began to fall apart and sections of the country began to fight for independence. Slovenia and Croatia broke away. Karadzic became the political leader of the Serbs in Bosnia. His platform was to unite Serbs in Bosnia/Herzegovina with Serbia.

Serbian military forces under Karadzic's direction captured 70 percent of Bosnia. They tried to kill or expel all non-Serbs, largely Muslims and Croats, from the territories they controlled.

Karadzic's forces over-ran the town of Srebrenica in July of 1995 and killed more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys. His goal was to kill every able-bodied male in the town and to "cleanse" the town of Muslims.

His forces also laid siege to Sarajevo for 3 years, during which 11,000 people were killed.

Pray that the World is
delivered out of the hands
of the War Mongers.
Karadzic was indicted by the United Nations war crimes tribunal in 1995. However, he managed to escape from the authorities and go into hiding for 13 years. He was finally discovered in 2008, living in Belgrade, Serbia, where he was arrested. He has been in custody since then.

Karadzic denied culpability in all charges against him and was unrepentant during his trial. He intends to appeal his conviction.

Justice was served in some small way.

Some dictators and warlords are made to pay for their crimes against humanity but most are not.

The quest for power and the love of money spawn a new batch of these war criminals every generation.

God save us from the Lost Ones who have no souls. Amen.

Pray for the 100,000 victims of the Yugoslavian wars. Many are lying in unmarked graves.
Everybody suffered regardless of their ethnicity.
