Roger Perez-Borroto - a victim of drunk driving in Florida

Rogelio Perez-Borroto, age 43, died on February 15, 2016, on a bridge near Tampa, Florida.
Roger

Rogelio was known as Roger to many of his friends.

After 2:00 a.m., Roger was driving his tow-truck across a bridge leading from St. Petersburg to Tampa. He stopped to help two people who were stranded on the side of the bridge.

Roger was struck by a car and thrown in the air. Tragically, he died at the scene of the collision. The female driver sped off without stopping. She was apprehended by the Police later in the day.

Allison Huffman
Allison Huffman, age 36, has been arrested in connection with this tragedy. She stated to the Police that she knew she had been involved in an accident but left the scene because she was scared.

Allison has three previous drunk driving charges and violations for speeding, careless driving and driving with a suspended license.

Roger had emigrated to the U.S.A. from Cuba 20 years ago. He was employed as a tow-truck driver by a company in Tampa. His co-workers describe him as hard-working, polite and friendly.

A funding site has been set up to help Roger's family with expenses.

Pray for Roger and for those
who have lost him.
Allison Huffman is innocent unless proven guilty.

However we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are wasted, drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi or a bus; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

Roger's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Roger is survived by many loving friends and family members including his wife and young daughter.

Pray for justice for Roger.

God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

God save us from the hit-and-run drivers. They strike us down on the street and then run away like wolves. Amen.

Pray that Roger is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
