Mark Logsdon (L); Patrick Dailey (R) |
Both men were members of the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Senior Deputy Dailey had 30 years of service and Senior Deputy Logsdon had 16 years of service.
Before noon, the Deputies were dispatched to a restaurant in Abingdon to apprehend David Evans, age 68, who had outstanding warrants. Deputy Dailey was talking to David Evans inside the restaurant when Evans pulled out a handgun and shot Patrick in the head. Evans then fled to the parking lot where he shot Deputy Mark Logsdon.
Mark was able to return fire, as did other deputies, and David Evans was killed.
Both deputies were rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, they succumbed to their injuries.
David Evans had a long history of violence and assault. It is pathetic and tragic that a man who is 68 years old is running around with a gun, looking to raise hell and causing misery and death at his age.
Patrick Dailey was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He had served 37 years as a member of the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company. He was currently assigned to the Court Services Division of the Sheriff's Office. He is survived by his mother, his two sons and his girlfriend.
Mark Logsdon was a U.S. Army veteran. He had served in Iraq with the Maryland National Guard in 2003 as a military policeman. He received several commendations during his military career. He was currently assigned to the Community Services Division of the Sheriff's Office. He is survived by his parents, his wife and his three children.
A funding site has been set up to help the Deputies' families with expenses.
Thank you for your service to your country and to the community, Patrick and Mark.
Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.
Pray that Patrick Dailey is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office is in mourning over the deaths of their brothers. These men were hard-working and dedicated. Both had received commendations for valor during their law enforcement careers. They are heroes who died in the service of their community. They will be forever remembered.
Michael, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Patrick and for Mark, and for those who have lost them. |
Patrick's and Mark's loved ones are devastated over their sudden and tragic deaths. They will be forever mourned.
