Jefferson Heavner - a Good Samaritan murdered in North Carolina

Jefferson Heavner
Jefferson Heavner, age 26, of Newton, North Carolina, died on January 22, 2016, in Catawba County, North Carolina.

Catawba County has a population of just under 155,000. Its county seat is Newton.

Just after 5:00 p.m., Jeff was driving on an icy road in Catawba County. He saw that a car had spun out on the roadway and had gotten stuck. Jeff, and others who witnessed the accident, stopped to offer assistance to the driver.

The people who stopped to help soon realized that the driver was either drunk or doped up and was also belligerent and looking for trouble. The group of helpers decided to call the police. When the driver heard them calling the authorities, he took out a gun and started firing.

Everyone fled but Jefferson Heavner was struck by a bullet and fell. It was at this point that the driver came over to Jefferson and shot him many more times.

The shooter then returned to his vehicle. He passed out and was extracted by a Police SWAT team.

Tragically, Jefferson Heavner died of his injuries.

Marvin Jacob Lee, age 27, has been charged with murder in connection with this crime.

Jeff's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He often came to the aid of people in trouble on the highways. He was a decent young man who did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Jeff is survived by many loving friends and family members who will forever miss him.

Pray for justice for Jeff.

God bless Jeff and all Good Samaritans who
come to the aid of strangers.
