Zakareia Husein - a robbery victim in Akron, Ohio

Zakareia Husein, age 21, of Springfield Township, died on December 8, 2015, at a hospital in Akron, Ohio.

Zakareia was known as Zak to his family and friends.

On December 7, 2015, Zak was working the late shift at his brother's pizza parlor in the North Hill district of Akron. Just before 11:00 p.m., an armed robber entered the store wearing a mask and dark clothing from head to toe. The suspect demanded money. After Zak handed over some cash from the register he was shot point blank by the suspect who fled the scene.

Zak was found by his brother. Zak was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he died of his injuries.

Anybody with information is urged to call the Akron Police Detective Bureau at 330-375-2490. Zak's family has offered a reward of up to $50,000. for information that identifies the shooter. Crimestoppers is also offering a reward of $2,000.

The suspect may have been involved in two other armed robberies in Akron and may be a woman.

Zak's family came to Akron in the early 1990's as refugees from Jerusalem. He graduated from Springfield High School in 2012.

an active member of the Muslim Students Association. He had one year to go until graduation.

Friends describe Zak as intelligent, easy-going, tolerant and peaceful. He was also hard-working, ambitious and helpful. He will be forever remembered.

Zak's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Zak is survived by many loving friends and family members who will forever mourn him.

Pray for justice for Zak.
