Jill Elwick - the victim of an alleged impaired driver in Washington State

Light a candle for Jill. Light her way to
Heaven.
Jill Elwick, age 49, died on December 6, 2015, on a highway near Mount Vernon, Washington.

Jill was driving with two of her grown children - her son and her younger daughter. They were on their way to pick up Jill's older daughter, Kate, at her workplace. All four of them were headed off for an evening of fun at the local casino.

During their drive, they were involved in a multipe vehicle collision. Tragically, Jill was mortally wounded and she passed away.

Thankfully, her son and daughter survived the collision.

Michael Stephenson, age 43, was apprehended on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and other charges related to this tragedy. It is believed that Michael Stephenson was impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. It is alleged that he caused a chain reaction in which at least 4 vehicles collided. One of those vehicles was Jill's.

After this tragedy, Michael Stephenson appeared extremely remorseful. To others he appeared to be suicidal. He greatly regrets his actions which led to the death of Jill Elwick.

Michael Stephenson

All of this is a terrible tragedy for all involved. In an instant, everything is taken away and everyone loses.

Michael Stephenson is innocent unless proven guilty.

However we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are wasted, drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi or a bus; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

Jill's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She was a loving woman who was loved in return. She will be forever mourned.

Jill is survived by many loving friends and family members including her husband and her three children.

Pray for justice for Jill.

God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Jill is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
