She and her partner, Matthew, had been arguing and she left their home. She was walking down an alley when she decided to take a shortcut and entered the yard.
She was attacked by a pit bull dog and a husky-pit bull cross. She was severely bitten in the face and neck areas. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and then flown to another medical center where, tragically, she passed away from her injuries.
Rebecca and her partner, Matthew, had an 18 month old daughter together. Rebecca is described as full of life. She could brighten up a room when she entered. She loved her daughter.
Neighbors stated that these dogs are troublesome and escape from the yard frequently. The dogs are in custody and the owner has not been charged with any offences.

They were both attacked by four pit bull dogs which were running loose. Neighbors stepped in to try to fight off the dogs with sticks and crow bars. The mother tried to lie over her son to protect him but the dogs pulled the boy out of his mother's arms and dragged him under a fence, mauling him.
Xavier was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he died of his injuries. His mother was also bitten several times.
The Police killed 3 of the dogs. The fourth is in the custody of Animal Services. These same pit bulls have been involved in other attacks in recent months.
Xavier was a sweet kid and was intelligent for his age. He loved his cartoons and his trucks.

A funding site has been established to help Xavier's family with expenses.
Pit Bulls were bred over 200 years ago for bull baiting, bear baiting and dog fighting.
They were never intended to be family pets. They should never be around infants or young children under any circumstances. They have repeatedly proven that they can kill people, both young and old, including people passing by. They have killed grown women walking in the hallways of their apartment buildings; they have killed 40 year old men jogging by on a country road; they have killed toddlers playing on the floor.
Many towns and cities, counties and states do not allow pit bulls and related breeds within their jurisdictions. Pit bulls are banned outright in many European countries, period.
Where are the authorities in Michigan? Why do you allow Pit Bull dogs in your state? Grow up and wake up.
Pit Bulls and all related dog breeds should be bred out of existence sooner rather than later.
Death by dog is not acceptable in a civilized country.
The loved ones of Rebecca Hardy and Xavier Strickland are devastated over their sudden and tragic deaths. They will be forever mourned.
Their loved ones have suffered an unspeakable loss. Pray for them.
Pray that Rebecca is in Heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
