Daniel Gutierrez Jr. - a victim of bullying in New Mexico

On November 29, 2015, Daniel Gutierrez Jr., age 12, attempted to hang himself in his home in Clovis, New Mexico.

He didn't want to have to go to school the next day. Daniel attended a middle school in Clovis.

Daniel's father found his son blue and unresponsive on the floor.  He gave his son CPR for the 20 minutes it took paramedics to arrive at the home.

Daniel was rushed to a hospital in Clovis, then to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.  He will soon be transported to a hospital in Albuquerque.

Daniel's family assert that his suicide attempt came about from being bullied, picked on, pushed around, beaten and mocked on social media.

One video captured by some kid at the school shows Daniel in the boy's locker room being hit around the head and back about 8 times in 3 seconds by an unnamed boy. Daniel walks away silently holding his head.

Daniel's family states that Daniel spoke to the principal and teachers about the bullying but that nothing was done on his behalf.  The family also spoke to school officials but nothing was done in Daniel's favor and kids at the school called him a snitch and harassed him even more.

The family also went to the Police Department about all of this but they too did not respond in a timely manner.

The School District for Clovis states that the issue with Daniel was under investigation and that the District has an anti-bullying awareness program in place.
