Officer Webster was a member of the Albuquerque Police Department. He had almost nine years of service.
Officer Webster was known as Dan to his family and friends.
In the evening of October 21, 2015, Officer Webster stopped a motorcycle at a city intersection. The motorcycle had a stolen license plate. Officer Webster started to place handcuffs on the suspect who stated that his shoulder was hurt and reached for a concealed handgun. The suspect opened fire on Officer Webster striking him in the face, chest and arm.

Dan was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries eight days later.
A funding site has been set up to help the family with expenses.
The suspect, Davon Lymon, age 34, was arrested a short time later. He has a lengthy criminal record.
The Albuquerque Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He was well-liked and had a sense of humor. Officials stated that Dan Webster was the very best example of a life committed to public service. He will be forever remembered for his professionalism and dedication to duty.
Dan is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Michelle, and two children.

Dan was named Officer of the Year in 2013. He had served with the U.S. Army Rangers for 20 years and had been deployed several times to combat zones in Kosovo, Bosnia and Iraq.
