Stuart Hardy |
Firefighter Hardy was a member of the Burton Fire District based in Beaufort, South Carolina.
He was called Stuey by his friends and family.
Just after noon on September 13, 2015, Stuart and other members of the Fire District responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
Stuart suffered a medical emergency and collapsed at the scene. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Beaufort and then to a larger hospital in Charleston.
Stuart was listed in stable but critical condition. Tragically he succumbed to injuries to his brain eleven days after the incident.

Stuart and his wife were originally from Colorado and were high school sweethearts. Stuart was a Marine Corps veteran with almost 10 years of service as a mechanic. He was deployed twice to Iraq. He graduated from the South Carolina Fire Academy a year ago.

The members of the Burton Fire District are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Stuart had dreamed of becoming a firefighter. He wanted to do everything right, was energetic and enthusiastic. He will be forever remembered.
Stuart's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He was a loving husband and father. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Stuart is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Nichole, and their three young daughters.
