The cause of Shane's death is believed to be a catastrophic cardiac arrest.  But this has not been confirmed as of this date.

Shane was a Navy veteran.  He had worked as an emergency department technician at Unity Hospital in Fridley and at Allina Emergency Medical Services before joining the St. Paul Fire Department in 2007.

The St. Paul Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. Shane is described as an extraordinary firefighter and a superb paramedic who was as strong as an ox. He was a hard-working but fun-loving man. Shane was a professional who was well respected by his peers. He loved being a firefighter. He will be forever remembered.

Thank you for your service to your country and to the community, Shane.

Pray for all who go to work and who die there.

Pray for all who die suddenly.  They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Shane is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
