Kyle Young - State Trooper - Vermont

Trooper Kyle Young, age 28, died in the line of duty on September 17, 2015, at a hospital in Burlington, Vermont.

Trooper Young was a member of the Vermont State Police. He was assigned to the New Haven Barracks. He had just under 2 years of service.

Kyle was participating in a training session at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vermont. At about 2:00 p.m., he suddenly collapsed.  He was rushed to a nearby hospital where tragically he passed away. 

The cause of his death is under investigation.

Kyle was originally from Watertown, New York.  He was currently living in Monkton, Vermont. 

Kyle graduated from General Brown Central School in Dexter, New York, in 2005. He majored in criminal justice and political science at American Military University. 

He served in the U.S. Airforce from 2007 to 2011 doing security work. After his discharge he worked for a security firm for two years, before becoming a Vermont State Trooper in January of 2014.

The Vermont State Police are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Kyle was a dedicated officer and was well-respected by his peers. He will be forever remembered.

Kyle's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was a caring and dedicated father and partner who cared greatly for his family and for his community. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Kyle is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his parents, his partner and two children.

Thank you for your service to America and to Vermont, Kyle.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Kyle is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
