Kevin Toatley - Police Officer Fatality - DeKalb County, Georgia

Police Officer Kevin Toatley died on September 19, 2015, at a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Officer Toatley was a member of the KeKalb County Police Department. He had seven years of service.

At about 12:30 a.m., Kevin was off-duty and driving home on a highway in South Fulton County when his patrol car was struck head-on by a SUV driving in the wrong direction. 

The impact caused his patrol car to burst into flames. The SUV was being driven by a woman who is not from the area. Another adult and three children were in her vehicle.  All five were injured to varying degrees.

Kevin was rushed to a hospital in Atlanta where tragically he succumbed to his injuries. 

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident.

The DeKalb County Police are in mourning over the death of their brother. Kevin was a well-liked and well-respected member of the Department. He will be forever remembered.

Kevin's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was a loving husband and he loved his job. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Kevin is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Charkeshia. 

Thank you for your service to the community, Kevin. 

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Kevin is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
