James Ahn - Military Fatality - Washington State

Captain James Ahn, age 29, of California, died in the line of duty on September 11, 2015, in Mason County, Washington.

Captain Ahn was a member of the 1st Special Forces Group based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. 

James was undergoing parachute training and had jumped from an airplane when tragically he fell to his death. His body was found in a heavily wooded area in Mason County. The cause of the accident is under investigation. 

James had joined the 1st Special Forces Group in May of 2014. He had previously served at Fort Bragg, North Carolina as a quartermaster. 

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Rigger Badge Military Freefall Badge and the Parachutist Badge. He was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

James' military comrades are in mourning over the death of their brother. He was a well-respected professional. He will be forever remembered.

James' loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

James is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that James is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
