Bergen is a town in Genesee County, New York, with a population of just over 3,000.
Barry owned Miller's Millworks in Bergen. He had been a volunteer EMT and firefighter for 31 years.
Just before 7:30 a.m., Barry was a passenger in an ambulance with two other volunteer members of the fire department who were responding to an emergency call for a man who was having chest pain. They were driving through Riga, New York when the ambulance ran into a slow moving backhoe.
The driver of the backhoe, the driver of the ambulance and both passengers in the ambulance were taken to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Barry was fatally injured and passed away.
The three others had only minor injuries.

Barry's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Barry is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his parents, Tracy and Loretta Miller.
