Delton Daniels - a young Sheriff's Deputy who died in the line of duty - South Carolina

Deputy Sheriff Delton Daniels, age 22, died on August 1, 2015, at a hospital in Florence, South Carolina.

Deputy Daniels was a member of the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office. He had only a few weeks of service with the Sheriff's Office.

Delton was called Del by his family and friends. 

On July 20, 2015, Del was a passenger in a patrol SUV being driven by another deputy. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned in a ditch near McColl, South Carolina. 

Del was rushed to a nearby hospital where he remained on life support until tragically he succumbed to his injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. The vehicle may have slid on standing water during a heavy rain. 

Del had also served as a volunteer firefighter with the Bennettsville and Brightsville Fire Departments. He began volunteering with fire departments when he was 15 years old. 

Del had attended Florence-Darlington Technical College. 

Del was a man of faith and was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.

He loved the outdoors - fishing, hunting and four-wheeling.

The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office and the Bennettsville and Brightsville Fire Departments are in mourning over the death of their young brother. He will be forever remembered.

Del's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He was was good kid who always had a smile on his face. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Del is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his parents, Carl and Bridgette Daniels; his brother, Brandon and his sister, Dorothy.

Pray for all who go to work and who die because of it.

Pray for all who die young. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray that Del is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
