Lawrence Buckner - a Security Guard killed in Maryland

Lawrence Buckner, age 59, died in the line of duty on April 9, 2015, at a hospital in Cheverly, Maryland.

Lawrence was a security guard at the Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.  Suitland is about 9 miles southeast of downtown Washington, D.C.

Ronald Anderson, age 48, of south-east Washington, D.C., allegedly kidnapped his estranged wife or girlfriend during the afternoon of April 9 and then drove to the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland. As he was arguing with the woman in the car, Lawrence Buckner approached the vehicle. As he approached, he was shot.

Ronald Anderson then fled the scene and was chased by the Police to Washington D.C. where he was wounded and arrested. Three police officers were injured during the confrontation. The woman was unharmed.

Lawrence Buckner was rushed to a nearby hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries.

Ronald Anderson had been charged in February with second-degree assault,

possession of drugs with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana. He was free on bail at the time of this incident.

Lawrence Buckner was an Army Veteran and had 8 years of service. He had worked in security for 20 years. He was employed as a security guard for Masters Security and had been stationed at the Census Bureau for about 5 years.

Lawrence's family members are devastated by his sudden and tragic death. He died doing his job. He will be forever mourned.

Lawrence is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Linda; his son and grandchildren.

Pray for all who go to work and who die because of it. 


Pray for justice for Lawrence. 

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers. Amen.

Pray that Lawrence is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
