Clancy Winchester |
Clancy is a plumber but was off duty on the morning of April 7. At about 11:22 a.m., he was looking for a parking spot on Martense Avenue.
He saw that a two-storey, two-unit wooden residential structure was on fire.
A girl came running out of the building with two kids in her hands. Clancy asked if anyone else was in the building and she said that there was.
Clancy kicked in one of the doors to the building and raced around inside, flinging open interior doors to see if he could see anyone.
He heard screaming and was able to locate two small kids in one room. He grabbed them and left through a back door and walked around to the front of the building.
By the time the Fire Department arrived all of the occupants were safe and had exited the building.
Clancy said that he was just glad he was there and that he was able to be of help.
God bless Clancy Winchester. He is a Good Samaritan.
God bless all who come to the aid of strangers. Amen.
