Richard Woods - Law Enforcement - Alabama

Lieutenant Richard Woods, age 48, died in the line of duty on March 17, 2015, at a hospital in Pell City, Alabama.

Lieutenant Woods was a member of the Pell City Police Department.  He had 20 years of service.  He was the commander of the Special Operations Division. 

Pell City is a city in St. Clair County with a population of just under 13,000. 

At about 4:30 p.m. on March 17th, Richard was assisting rescue personnel extricate several teenagers from a vehicle following a serious motor vehicle accident in Pell City. 

He suffered a heart attack due to exertion. Paramedics provided aid and rushed him to a local hospital where sadly he passed away soon after. 

The Pell City Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He died in the service of his community. He will be forever remembered.

Richard's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Richard is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including
Michael, Archangel, Patron Saint of the Police,
