Summer Rupert-Wozniczka - a victim of a suspected drunk driver in Cicero, New York

Summer Rupert-Wozniczka, age 37, died on October 30, 2014, at a hospital in Syracuse, New York. 

At about 7:00 a.m., Summer was running along a road near Oneida Lake, near her home. She was wearing a reflective vest and a light in order to be visible to drivers. She was struck by a vehicle which sped away. She was rushed to a local hospital where tragically she passed away.

Vincent Carello, age 28, of Cicero, has been arrested in connection with Summer's death. It is alleged that he was impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision. He was convicted of burglary in 2006. Vincent may be charged with various offenses including vehicular manslaughter, hit and run and driving while intoxicated.  

Friends describe Summer as a loving mother, who was into fitness.  She had competed as a body builder but was now interested in running and marathons.   

Summer is described as humorous, upbeat and uptempo, friendly, loving, and a devoted mother.  She was fun to be around. Others describe her as energetic, optimistic and a hard worker.  

She graduated from Bishop Grimes High School and later attended LeMoyne College. She achieved a Registered Nurse's degree from Empire State College. She currently worked in Syracuse as a sales person. 

Advice To All Drivers: If you find that you are wasted, drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi; or stay where you are until

you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

Summer's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She will be forever mourned.

Summer is survived by many loving friends and family members including her mother, Sharon; her sisters, Chelsea, Jill and Davelyn; her husband, Jody; and her daughter, Juliana. Summer was predeceased by her father, Theodore. 

Pray for all who die by misadventure.  They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Summer is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
