Robert White - Law Enforcement - Texas

Constable Robert White died in the line of duty on November 1, 2014, at a hospital in El Paso, Texas. 

Constable White was a member of the El Paso County Constable's Office - Precinct 1.  He had 18 years of service.  This was an elected position. 

At about 12:30 a.m., Robert was working an overtime assignment as security at a Halloween "haunted" amusement venue in Canutillo.  He encountered a disorderly male who he attempted to arrest.  A struggle ensued in which Robert was punched in the face.  He fell to the ground and could not get up.  Witnesses said that he was bleeding heavily.  He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Department was able to arrest the suspect, Devon Huerta-Person, age 19, of Fort Bliss, Texas.  He is an active duty soldier. He may be charged with capital murder. 

Robert graduated from Coronado High School, the University of Texas at El Paso and the El Paso Community College Law Enforcement Training Academy.

Robert White was also a physical education teacher at Putnam Elementary School for 17 years. School officials describe him as a phenomenal man and a great role model for the kids.  

The El Paso Constable's Office is in mourning over the death of their brother. Law enforcement officials describe Robert as a true professional. He will be forever remembered.

Local officials describe Robert as a man of integrity, who was hard working and a dedicated public servant.  He was well respected and admired by many. 

Robert's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Robert is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and children.
