Rhonda Commodore - Corrections Officer - Manitoba, Canada

Corrections Officer Rhonda Commodore, age 44, of The Pas, Manitoba, died in the line of duty on November 6, 2014, on a highway in northern Manitoba, Canada. 

Rhonda was a member of the Manitoba Corrections Department.  

Officer Commodore and a male Corrections Officer were transporting six inmates from The Pas Correctional Centre to the Dauphin Correctional Centre, about 240 miles south. 

They drove about 28 miles south of The Pas in snowy weather.  At about 9:45 a.m, the van veered off the roadway into a ditch and overturned. Officer Commodore, in the passenger seat, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Tragically, Rhonda passed away at the scene of the accident.

Bad weather is considered a component of the crash. 

The male officer and the prisoners suffered non life threatening injuries. 

Rhonda's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She is described as a very kind and energetic woman.  She was a loving mother. She will be

All Corrections Officers in Manitoba are in mourning over the death of their sister. She will be forever remembered.

Rhonda is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including her parents and her young son, Anthony.
