Hamid Aminzada - a 19 year old Good Samaritan - killed in Toronto, Canada

Hamid Aminzada, age 19, died on September 23, 2014, at a hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Hamid attended North Albion Collegiate Institute in Etobicoke, a suburb of Toronto. The school has a student population of about 1,000. 

Sometime after noon, Hamid tried to intervene in a hallway dispute between two males. He was stabbed numerous times during the altercation.  He was rushed to a local hospital but tragically died from his injuries. 

A 17 year old male student, accompanied by a lawyer, turned himself in to Police later that day.  He cannot be named because he is underage. 

Hamid and his family are originally from Jalalabad, Afghanistan but lived for many years in Peshawar, Pakistan.  The family came to Canada about two years ago. Hamid was a member of the Islamic faith.

School officials describe Hamid as focused on his family and on his future in Canada.  He is also described as kind, caring and well-liked. He was heavily into English classes. He was determined to get an education.

Friends describe Hamid as quiet and somewhat shy.  He was an all around nice guy who never got into trouble. 

Hamid's family members are devastated by his sudden and tragic death.  They describe him as a good young man who cared for others.  He will be forever mourned.

Hamid is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents and his siblings. 

Pray for justice for Hamid. 

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers. 

Pray for those who try to resolve conflict and who die because of it. 

Pray that Hamid is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
