Michael Petrina

Michael was a member of the Metro Nashville Police Department.  He had 8 months of service. He worked out of the South Precinct.

Michael had responded to a call regarding an auto accident on I-65 near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit.

He was at the scene of the accident and was talking to a Department of Transportation Help Truck Driver. The state operates HELP trucks on Tennessee's most heavily traveled highways in Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville to assist motorists in distress.

As Michael and the HELP driver were speaking, a motorhome approached the accident scene and swerved into Michael, killing him.

Charges may be filed against the driver of the motorhome, Dean Diver, age 71, of Key Largo, Florida, but this is undetermined at the time of this posting.

Thank you for your service to the public, Michael.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the elderly drivers who are zoned out, the speeding drivers, the drunk drivers and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Michael is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
