Police Officer Nicholas Lee, age 40, died in the line of duty on March 7, 2014, on a street in Beverly Hills, California.

Nicholas was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department. He had 16 years of service. He worked in the Hollywood Division.

Officer Lee and an officer in training were responding to a call at 8:00 a.m. when their patrol car collided with a truck carrying a dumpster. The collision injured both officers and the truck driver. The cause of the crash may have been due to the failure of the truck's brakes.

Officer Lee died at the scene. The other officer was rushed to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Nicholas had received more than 70 commendations during his years of service. He had worked in the Van Nuys, Wilshire and Hollywood areas.

The Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother.

Nicholas was well-respected and well-liked by his comrades.

He is described as a father and a family man. He was a great cop who will be missed.
