Janet VanderBeek - a good Samaritan who died in Ontario, Canada

Janet VanderBeek, age 58, died on March 15, 2014, at a hospital in Ontario, Canada.
Janet VanderBeek

Janet was travelling with her husband, Ron, on a highway near Blue Mountains, Ontario, in near white-out snow conditions.

Janet and Ron came across the scene of an accident. A van had veered off the road. The couple in the van had lost control of the vehicle and they were in the ditch and their two kids were cold and crying.

Janet went and picked them up and was making room in her own vehicle for the kids, when an SUV came onto the scene.  The driver of the SUV tried to slow down but slid on the road and hit Janet.

She was transported to a local hospital but tragically died there.

Loved ones describe Janet as a woman who was selfless, helpful and kind to others. She never looked for credit for anything she did. She just did it.

She helped her husband set up his medical practice and successfully raised four

children. She is described as a hero to her family. She will forever be mourned.

Janet was a member of the Anglican Church.

Janet is survived by many loving friends and family members including her husband, Ron and their four children.

Pray for all who die by misadventure.  They are with us one moment and gone the next.

Pray for the Good Samaritans who come to the aid of strangers and who die because of it.

Pray that Janet is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
