Samuel Keen - a victim of America's Gun Culture - in Houston, Texas

Sam Keen and his wife
Samuel Keen, age 27, of Porter, Texas, died on March 17, 2014, at a hospital in Houston, Texas.

Sam was a Firefighter with the Houston Fire Department. He had over 3 years of service. He was also a part-time employee of the Atascocita Fire Department.

He was off duty and went on a party for St. Patrick's Day. He got drunk. He was asked to leave the bar and his friends put him in a cab and sent him home.

At about 9:30 p.m., he got out of the cab and mistakenly tried to enter the wrong house. His 64 year old female neighbour looked out and saw a young man outside. She yelled for the man to leave, warning him that she had a gun. The woman told deputies the man kept trying to get into her home so she fired two shots through the door and then called 911.

Sam was transported to a local hospital where tragically he passed away.

Firefighting friends stated that Sam was always on time and was a good firefighter. He had also served in the Marines.

His firefighting comrades are in mourning over his tragic and senseless death.

As is standard policy, this shooting will be sent to a grand jury to determine whether any charges will be filed. Of course, no charges will be filed against this woman because this is Texas.

In Texas, if it is 9:30 at night, (not at 2:30 a.m.), and you feel you are experiencing a

Firefighters, pray for Sam
"home invasion", you can go wacko and shoot first... and then you can call the Police.

In Texas, you can use firearms as a first response to issues of concern instead of using common sense and some measure of restraint.

Jesus, all saints and all angels pray for us. God save us from this Texas-style gun culture and this stupidity.

Sam is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife.

Thank you for your service to the public, Sam.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next.

God save us from the gun freaks in Texas. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Sam is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
