James Groth - U.S. Military

Pfc. James Groth, age 22, died in the line of duty on February 21, 2014, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

James was a member of the Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment at Fort Bragg. He was a canon crew member.

James was undergoing a training exercise involving a Howitzer gun when he was was fatally injured. Two other soldiers were also injured seriously. Army medics performed lifesaving care at the scene. All of the wounded were taken to the hospital where James tragically passed away.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

James was originally from Ethal, Washington. He enlisted in 2012.
Angels of God, pray for James

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

James is greatly mourned by his military comrades. 

His family is devastated by his tragic death. 

James is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Wayne and Billie Groth; and his wife Jordan Groth.

Thank you for serving, James.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next.

Pray that James is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
