Bruce Britt - Firefighter - Missouri

Lt. Bruce Britt, age 48, died in the line of duty on February 22, 2014, at a hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Bruce was a member of the Columbia Fire Department. He had 23 years of service.

Bruce had responded to reports of a collapsing walkway at a student housing apartment building at the University of Missouri. Units responded after 4:00 a.m.

He was evacuating residents when a second floor walkway on the exterior of the apartment building fell, entrapping Officer Britt and fatally injuring him. No residents of

The Columbia Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their brother.

His family are devastated by the tragic death of their loved one.

Bruce is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Leigh Britt.
