Eliza-Mae Mullane - a newborn killed by a dog in England

Eliza-Mae
Eliza-Mae Mullane, age 6 days, died on February 18, 2014, at her home in Pontyberem, Carmarthenshire, Wales.

Eliza-Mae was bitten to death by a dog owned by her parents. The dog is a male Alaskan Malamute, which is a Husky type of dog, bred for pulling sleds in snow.

Malamutes are not considered to be a dangerous dog breed in Britain.

The parents of this child have suffered an unspeakable loss. They are deeply grieving over this tragedy.

Family members stated that she was a dearly loved daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece.

There is little to say about a child who is only 6 days old. She was an infant barely out of the womb.

Friends said the 33-year-old father had rescued the dog, called Nisha, several months

ago after being told its previous owner was going to have it destroyed. The reason that the dog was going to be destroyed by its prior owner has not been stated. The couple also have another dog, a small terrier.

Friends and neighbours describe the Malamute as docile. However, some locals have said that the dog was agitated in the days prior to the infant's entry into the home from the hospital.

The Alaskan Malamute Club of the United Kingdom describes the breed as an affectionate, friendly, loyal, devoted companion.

Wikipedia states that: Malamutes sometimes cope poorly with smaller animals....(including) babies.

Men and women who are having babies should not be hosting large dog breeds of any type in their home, including those dog breeds not on the Dangerous Dogs List of Britain.

All large dogs are dangerous to infants and toddlers.

Repeatedly, we have watched TV programs regarding real estate purchases in England and in North America in which people have a large dog and are expecting the birth of their first child and yet.....they are determined that the dog will be "part of the family" in the new house. Why? Are you the parent of a child or the parent of a dog? What is your priority?

God help us if a child, born of your own body, is less important than a dog.

This is the second dog related death of an infant in England that we have reported on in one week.

Death by dog is not acceptable in a civilized country.

Eliza-Mae is survived by numerous loving well-wishers.

Everyone of faith believes that a child 6 days old is undoubtedly with God.
