She was murdered. The exact cause of her death has not been revealed as of this posting.
Melissa was living at the home of her parents, about six block from the cemetery.
A couple of weeks ago a warrant had been issued for Mikael D. Lloyd, age 19, Melissa's boyfriend. He had been charged with assaulting her in June during an argument. Melissa's family had worried about her safety, so much so that they called police to report an abusive relationship. Mikael Lloyd has taken in for questioning but not charged in connection with Melissa's death, as of this posting.
Melissa was a current student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, had been a varsity softball player and performer with the dance team at South High School.
Melissa was an honor roll student in High School, was very active and well-liked.
Family members describe Melissa as a really good person with a huge heart. She would help anybody in need. She was a go-getter and determined to succeed. She
