Juan Casanova - Firefighter - Texas

Pump Operator/Engineer Juan Casanova, age 53, died on August 10, 2013, at a hospital in Houston, Texas.

Juan was a member of the Brownsville Fire Department. He had almost 20 years of service.

On July 16, 2013, Juan suffered a heart attack while at work at Station No. 2 in Brownsville. He was hospitalized at that time and remained in the hospital until his death.

Juan suffered three more heart attacks before passing away. 

The Brownsville Fire Department is in mourning over the death of Juan.  He was planning on retiring soon. 

Juan was born in Brownsville.  He enjoyed spending time with this family and friends.

Family members stated that Juan loved doing what he did.  He is described as a fighter.  He fought to survive up until the end. 

Family members stated that he will always be remembered for his smile and his laughter.

Juan is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Herminia Hernandez-Flores de Casanova; his daughter, Norma Linda Casanova; his sons - Elias Casanova, Rene Casanova and Juan Casanova Jr.; his former wife, Lucia Casanova; and his step-daughter, Vanessa Hernandez. Juan was predeceased by his mother and father.
