He was a store clerk at a 7-Eleven store in the Bevo Mill neighbourhood.

It appears that a man just came up behind him as he was working, and shot him. The motive for this murder is unknown.

Mon Rai came to St. Louis from Nepal a year ago. He was originally from Bhutan but had lived for almost 20 years in a refugee camp in Nepal under primitive conditions - not enough food, no health care, no sanitation. He came to America to live a better life.

He was taking English language courses at the International Institute of St. Louis. Officials there describe him as a having a positive attitude and great English skills.
Light a candle for Mon Rai.
Light his way to Heaven.

He is also described as hard-working, kind and friendly.

Mon Rai is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and his 7 year old son. His wife is expecting to deliver their second child now.

Pray for justice for Mon Rai. Amen.

God save us from the Lost Ones who stalk the Earth stealing away life. Amen.

Pray that Mon Rai is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
