Zviad Davitadze, Aleksander Kvitsinadze, Vladimir Shanava - Georgian Military

Three soldiers of the Republic of Georgia died in the line of duty on May 13, 2013, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Deceased are:

Sergeant Zviad Davitadze
Corporal Aleksander Kvitsinadze
Corporal Vladimir Shanava

These men served in the 42nd Light Infantry Battalion of the Fourth Infantry Brigade.

The men were deployed to Afghanistan less than two months ago.

Officials of the Republic of Georgia state that they are grieving over the loss of their heroes.

In all, 22 Georgian troops have been killed in Afghanistan since 2009.

Zviad Davitadze was born in 1979. He had served in the Georgian Army since 2005.

Aleksander Kvitsinadze was born in 1986. He had served in the Army since 2007. 

Vladimir Shanava was born in 1989. He had served in the Army since 2007.

All three men had previously received medals for their service to Georgia.

Zviad, Aleksander and Vladimir are survived by many loving friends and relatives.
