Don Bishop - Law Enforcement - Wisconsin

Police Officer Donald Bishop, age 32, died in the line of duty on April 12, 2013, in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Don was a member of the Brookfield Police Department. He had 2 years of service with that Department.

Don was responding to a burglary in progress call at about 11:00 p.m. He suffered a heart attack while driving to the scene. His patrol car left the roadway and struck a tree.

Other responding officers immediately pulled him from the vehicle and began CPR. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Prior to becoming a police officer with the Town of Brookfield, Don Bishop worked as a dispatcher with the Waukesha County Communications Center and the City of Oconomowoc Communication Center and as a reserve officer with the Village of Mukwonago Police Department. Officer Bishop also worked for more than 10 years as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician with the Village of North Prairie Fire Department.

Don had graduated from Mukwonago High School and from Waukesha Technical College where he had received his training in Law Enforcement, Firefighting, and as an Emergency Medical Technician.

The Police Department is deeply mourning his death.  They have stated that it is tragic that a man so young died of a heart attack.
