Kent Island is the largest island in the Chesapeake Bay at 32 square miles and is part of the State of Maryland.
They were driving at about 4:00 p.m. when they crashed head on into another vehicle.
The driver, Cory Pessagno, may have crossed the centre line as the vehicle rounded a curve in the road. Speed may have been a factor in this crash. The cause of this fatal crash is undetermined as of this posting.

The 73 year old driver of the other car survived but is in serious condition.
These young men were best friends and had all graduated from Kent Island High School. It was stated that they did everything together - skateboarding, playing video games, bowling, fishing or just hanging out.
Tyler Elzey had been a member of the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department for about a year and a half. He had completed over 350 hours of training, including Firefighter I and EMT training, and he was currently enrolled in Firefighter II. He had previously volunteered at Church Hill, where his brother Chris Trigg is a member. Tyler was living his dream of being a fireman and had recently applied to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Tyler loved serving his community and was a Maryland State Police Explorer in addition to being a volunteer firefighter.
Michael Ringenbach was a former member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He joined in 2011 but was not currently active. He, too, was a Maryland State Police Explorer. His brother Richard is an active volunteer with United Communities Volunteer Fire Department.
Cory was the captain of the football team at his senior year at high school.
Harrison Smith and Mike Rigenbach loved to cook and to skateboard.
Tyler Elzey, Harrison Smith and Mike Ringenbach all worked together at Hemingway’s Restaurant on Kent Island.
Friends stated that these young men were full of life, smiling, loving and helpful. They were all there if you needed them.
They are also described as happy, intelligent and loyal.

These men are survived by many loving friends and relatives. The loss to their loved ones is unspeakable.
