Alexander Heit - died texting in Colorado

Alex
Alexander Heit, age 22, died on the evening of April 3, 2013, on a street in Greeley, Colorado.

Alexander was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash.

Alexander was doing nothing out of the ordinary. He wasn't drunk. He wasn't doped up. He wasn't in a road rage. He wasn't fighting with a girlfriend while driving.

He was texting on his phone while driving.

The parents of Alex are devastated by his passing.

They state: "Please, vow to never, never text and drive. In a split second you could ruin your future, injure or kill others, and tear a hole in the heart of everyone who loves you."

Light a candle for Alex.
Light his way to Heaven.
Alex's parents also want everyone to view his last text message in order to reinforce the gravity of this issue.  Texting while driving kills people.  You can be texting and roll the car and kill yourself or you can be texting and slam into another car and wipe out an entire family.

They also state: "And in honor of Alex's memory, please do something kind for a

stranger who needs help, as Alex always wished for a world where people were kinder to each other."

Alexander was a student at the University of Northern Colorado and had many friends there.

In Alex's honor, his family is working on a wildlands rebuild project with friends and neighbors. His classmates in the Audiology department at the University of Northern Colorado are collecting donations for that project.

Alex is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, who will forever miss him.

Pray for all who die young.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

Pray for an end to drunk driving, doped up driving and texting while driving.  It is killing us by the thousands.  Amen.

Let us pray that Alexander is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
